HAWS Waukesha Mission To Save Over 500 At-Risk Shelter Pets
The flight on Friday is part of the "Love is in the Air" mission.

WAUKESHA, WI— The Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County is again partnering with Wings of Rescue, for an airlift of dozens of homeless pets from overcrowded southern U.S. shelters to new loving homes in Wisconsin, according to a news release.
HAWS is located at 701 Northview Rd., across the street from Waukesha County Airport/Crites Field.
The flight is scheduled to land at 12 p.m. on Friday in Waukesha. The flight is part of the “Love is in the Air” mission to save more than 500 at-risk shelter pets.

It is taking place thanks to support from Tito's Handmade Vodka and the spirits company’s #vodkafordogpeople program.
80 pets will land in Waukesha. Once at HAWS the animals will be evaluated and receive any needed follow-up care, then placed up for adoption in the coming days.

Highly adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized at overcrowded shelters in other areas of the country, the release said.
"HAWS has room for these pets, and a caring community ready to adopt. Through this partnership with Wings of Rescue, the lives of these homeless pets are saved by flying them to HAWS and other available shelters. No local shelter pets are displaced by these flights," the release said.
