Hiker From Pewaukee Dies At Grand Canyon National Park
Authorities said a man from Pewaukee, Wisconsin was found dead Friday on a trail at Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona.
GRAND CANYON, AZ β A hiker from Pewaukee, Wisconsin was found and pronounced dead at Grand Canyon National Park on Friday, according to the National Park Service.
Somebody called about an unresponsive hiker around 3 p.m. that day on the Bright Angel Trail below Havasupai Gardens, authorities said. The spot, also known as Indian Gardens, is about a 9-mile round trip from the rim of the canyon with over 3,000 feet in elevation change, according to the NPS website.
Search and rescue found the hiker about 30 minutes after the distress call, but pronounced him deceased on the scene. Authorities said the man was attempting a day hike to the Colorado River and back.

The trail where the hiker was found is considered the most popular hiking trail in the park, the NPS said. The park service described the man who died as a 56-year-old from Pewaukee.
The park service said it is investigating the death alongside the Coconino County Medical Examiner.
