Horeb Springs To Close For 2020; Waukesha Beach Decision Next

Two popular swimming pools will be closed for 2020, and a decision on beach swimming is coming later this week, officials in Waukesha said.

WAUKESHA, WI — Waukesha officials say a popular aquatic center will not open this summer as city officials also weigh what's going to happen with beach swimming season later this week.

According to Waukesha officials, the city has "made the difficult decision to not open the Horeb Springs Aquatic Center this year."

Buchner pool was previously planned to be closed for the year for construction of a new pool.

"The safety of the public and our employees, shortage of staff, CDC and County guidelines on mass gatherings and the negative fiscal impact the pool would have on the City were among the many factors in this decision," city officials said. "We understand that this is extremely disappointing news for many families. We look forward to reopening and welcoming you back safely in 2021."
