Bystander Suffers Minor Injuries In Wauwatosa Fire
Fire officials responded near 68th and Terrace on Tuesday.

WAUWATOSA, WI— The Wauwatosa Fire Department battled a house fire near 68th and Terrace on Tuesday morning. Fire fighters were dispatched at 10:14 a.m. to a moderate fire and smoke coming from an attic space of a single-family home, according to a news release.
The homeowner was at work when the fire started, and there were no other people in the home. Neighbors and a passerby alerted 911 and were able to remove the homeowner's dog prior to emergency crews arriving on the scene. One bystander was evaluated for smoke inhalation.
The Wauwatosa Fire Department, along with Milwaukee Fire Department, placed the fire under control in less than 30 minutes, the news release said.

The fire caused significant damage to the first floor and the roof of the home.
The American Red Cross, along with WE energies, was called for assistance. The exact cause of the fire is undetermined, but the fire appears to have started near the rear entryway of the home, the release said.

Crews were in the neighborhood on Tuesday distributing smoke detectors and providing fire safety tips.
