Motorists on Interstate 94 in Waukesha can expect an extra set of eyes on them from the sky this Friday, authorities said.

WAUKESHA, WI — Motorists who use Interstate 94 can expect extra traffic enforcement from the air on Friday, the Wisconsin State Patrol announced Monday.
Weather permitting, pilots from the Wisconsin State Patrol will be keeping an eye on several highways from the air this week. Aerial enforcement is also expected in Walworth, Portage, Dodge, Marathon and Door Counties on various days.
The WSP Air Support Unit makes use of fixed-wing aircraft to conduct speed and traffic surveillance, according to the agency's website. A specific time was not announced for the aerial enforcement in Waukesha besides that it will be on Friday.

"Aerial enforcement is one way to enhance public safety efforts," a news release from the WSP said. "From the air it’s much easier to spot drivers who are speeding or driving aggressively. When a pilot observes a violation, they communicate with ground-based units to initiate a traffic stop."
The agency tends to announce enforcement missions publicly ahead of time in an effort to improve safety through voluntary traffic law compliance.
