WAUKESHA, WI — A slew of companies, universities and other institutions across the United States recently announced new mask and vaccine mandates. The requirements come as the highly infectious delta variant of the coronavirus brings a surge in new cases and hospitalizations across the nation.
The vaccine is effective against the delta variant, according to health officials. While more schools and companies are requiring vaccines, some are requiring masks again, also.
The Latest Mandates In Waukesha
Employees and residents are required to wear masks in clinical and hospital settings such as Waukesha County vaccine clinics, the mental health center and the Waukesha Employee Health and Wellness Center.

Students returning to Waukesha schools this fall will have the option of wearing a face mask, and there will be no COVID-19 vaccination mandate.
McDonald's restaurants will require all customers and staff to wear masks in communities the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has determined to have "high" or "substantial" transmission, regardless of vaccination status. Waukesha is currently listed under substantial transmission.

McDonald's was already requiring employees and unvaccinated customers to wear masks in its stores.
Target will again require employees to wear face masks, the retail giant announced Monday. The new policy will go into effect Tuesday.
Any Kohl's employees working in an area with substantial or high COVID-19 transmission rates (as defined by the CDC) will need to wear masks whiles working. The retailer recommends shoppers also wear masks while inside stores. Employees are encouraged to get a COVID-19 vaccine and the company said it will provide resources to help workers get vaccinated.
Kroger requires unvaccinated workers to wear masks and asks unvaccinated customers to do the same while in its stores. The company also strongly encouraged all customers to wear masks at its locations, including those who are vaccinated.
Walmart is requiring its employees to wear masks in areas with high transmission and strongly encouraged customers to wear face coverings.
The Home Depot said it now will require all of its workers to wear face coverings. The store also asked customers to wear masks at its locations as well.
Meijer encouraged workers and customers to wear face coverings at its stores.
