Wisconsin State Patrol said they arrested a man on suspicion of operating while intoxicated after reports of an erratic driver in Waukesha.
WAUKESHA, WI — Wisconsin State Patrol said they arrested a man on Wednesday on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle under the influence after several travelers on Interstate 94 in Waukesha reported his vehicle for erratic driving.
Callers told dispatchers around 5 p.m. that a Dodge Journey was driving in-between lanes, weaving from one to another, and that at one point the car hit the median wall but kept driving, according to a news release from state patrol's Waukesha Post. Police said they later arrested 58-year-old Michael J Welch of Montello on suspicion of OWI fifth offense.
The reports came in from I-94 near Grandview Boulevard, police said. The vehicle failed to stop for law enforcement for three miles, police said, until a state trooper stopped the car at a rest area in Jefferson County.
