Man Arrested After Waukesha Domestic Abuse And Standoff Incident
A 29-year-old man was taken into custody on Wednesday after strangling a woman and barricading himself in a home, police say.
WAUKESHA, WI — A 29-year-old man was arrested after police received a report from a woman that she was physically assaulted at home. According to police, the woman also reported two other incidents that occurred within the last month.
In one of the incidents, the man pointed a firearm at the woman's 5-year-old child, the release said. The woman reported being hit in the face multiple times and being strangled on Tuesday, according to police.
Police said the man was armed and left before they got to the home. According to police, he was finally located early Wednesday morning running into a home on East Racine Avenue.

Police said the man did not listen to the officers' commands to surrender and barricaded himself inside the home, which was unoccupied.
The Waukesha Tactical Unit was called to the scene and after establishing a dialogue around 6:53 a.m., he was taken into custody without further incident, police said. Neither the suspect nor any officers were injured.

The suspect is a 29-year-old male and is not a Waukesha resident. Police said at least one firearm was recovered from the scene.

Domestic abuse charges and weapons charges will be most likely be referred to the Waukesha District Attorney’s office.
