WAUKESHA, WI — A 30-year-old Milwaukee man has been arrested and charged with two counts of attempted armed robbery after authorities say he's responsible for two attempts at the Waukesha Walmart and Kwik Trip.

According to court documents, Joseph R. Bellovary has been charged with two counts of attempted armed robbery, and now faces up to 50 years behind bars if he's convicted.

While squads were responding to the attempted armed robbery report at Walmart, Waukesha Police said they received a second call that a nearly identical incident had just happened at the nearby Kwik Trip. Again, a clerk refused to hand over any money and the suspect, whom police believe was Bellovary, fled.

Waukesha Police told Patch that two officers investigating the attempted armed robberies quickly located a man matching the descriptions provided by employees at both Walmart and Kwik Trip.

Police said that within 28 minutes of the initial police call, authorities arrested Bellovary near the intersection of Darlene and West.

Court records show that Bellovary's next appearance in court will be Jan. 23 for a hearing. He's currently being held in the Waukesha County Jail on a $35,000 cash bond.
