Man Charged In Bomb Threat To Waukesha Bank

WAUKESHA, WI β€” A Waukesha man was charged Tuesday with making bomb and terrorist threats, both felonies, and was accused of threatening to blow up a Waukesha State Bank on Friday, according to online court documents.

Joshua LePak, 29, was also charged with five counts of bail jumping. A cash bond was set at $1,000; his next court date is scheduled for Wednesday.

He faces more than six years in prison if convicted of both felonies.

A bank employee flagged down a police officer and said a man approached her as she was leaving work, according to the criminal complaint. The man asked if she worked at the bank and said it was dangerous because the bank was "going to be robbed and shot up and blown up," according to the criminal complaint.

The woman snapped a photo of the man and showed it to police, the complaint said. Police identified the man as LePak, the complaint said.

Police found employees at the bank holding the doors shut, the complaint said. A bank manager told police that the man had earlier inquired about a loan for a fortunetelling business, the complaint said.

The man was "acting very bizarre and asking bizarre questions" about security, the complaint said. He approached the bank employee while leaving the bank, the complaint said.

Police found LePak a half mile from the bank wearing a shirt with duct tape on it that spelled "ISIS." LePak denied making any threats, the complaint said.

While being arrested, LePak said, "I guess I'll have to go through with my plan then," the complaint said.

Police searched LePak and found several homemade weapons with razor blades, duct tape and a firework wrapped in paper, the complaint said.
