Man Threw Gun At Police During Waukesha Standoff: Report

A Waukesha man has been arrested after police say there was a several-hour standoff on Murray Ave. into early Saturday morning.

WAUKESHA, WI β€” Police in Waukesha say a man has been arrested after a fight with his girlfriend turned into a several-hour standoff on Murray Ave. Friday night into early Saturday morning.

Waukesha police officers were called to a house on the 1800 block of Murray Ave. Friday night at just before 11 p.m. on a report of a domestic disturbance.

Waukesha police told Patch that a woman's boyfriend broke into the house while both drunk and high on cocaine. Police call logs indicate that the man busted a door in order to enter the house, and that a fight happened inside the house. During the course of the confrontation, the man threatened to shoot a dog if his girlfriend did not give him a cigarette, according to police call logs.

According to Waukesha Police call logs, officers arrived moments later only to find the man barricaded in his bedroom. Police attempted to negotiate with the man when he threw a gun out the window. Officers retreated, and evacuated other people from the house .

Police said that happened at about 10 minutes before 11 p.m. Friday.

Waukesha police said that the department's Tactical unit and crisis negotiators responded to the house to try to get the man outside and taken into custody.

After nearly four hours of negotiations and going back-and-forth, police said negotiations broke down. After deploying a ram to take out the front door, an entry team made it inside.

Police call logs stated the man went out the back door, where he was met by police.

According to police call logs, the man was both agitated and combative. Police say they fired two rounds of less-lethal ammunition at the man's left hip area, temporarily disabling him so that officers could move in and make the arrest.

Waukesha police said the man is expected to go through court on Monday.
