Man Took Drugs Containing His Mother's Cremated Remains: Cops
Investigators said they questioned Schroeder about the "unknown powder", with Schroeder returning an unlikely answer.
MENOMONEE FALLS, WI — Authorities in Waukesha County a 26-year-old man accused of running a drug trafficking outfit out of his Menomonee Falls apartment also ingested some of the drugs after he mixed them with his deceased mother's ashes.
Sheriff's officials say Austin Schoreder, 26, faces multiple drug charges including manufacturing marijuana and maintaining a drug trafficking place as a repeat offender.
Police say they went to the apartment of Schroeder and 21-year-old Kaitlin Geiger on Dec. 7 after they learned of a drug deal that happened there on Nov. 26.- Authorities said Geiger had been living with Schroeder and had been in a relationship with him for the last three-and-a-half years. She was also charged in the case.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Waukesha County, when officers went to their apartment to investigate the man's claim, neither Schroeder nor Geiger would allow police to go into their apartment on Dec. 7. Police said they could smell fresh marijuana coming from the apartment.
Police say they later used confidential informants to secretly buy drugs from Schroeder and Geiger on Jan. 6, 7 and 8.

According to the criminal complaint, on Jan. 10, agents with the Waukesha County Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Group got a search warrant, and searched Schroeder's and Geiger's shared apartment.
During the search, investigators reported finding a variety of items, including 70 grams of marijuana, ecstacy, and some drug paraphernalia. They also found what they described to be a " large amount of an unknown powder" and also "vegetable-like material" in the apartment, police said.

According to the criminal complaint, Schroeder told investigators that his mother died in 2019, and she was cremated. Schroeder went on to say that he took some of his mother's ashes, and combined them with some of the drugs. He told investigators that he ingested some of them.
Schroeder has been charged with two counts of manufacturing THC as a repeat offender, possession of THC with intent to deliver, maintaining a drug trafficking place, possession of amphetamines and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Schroeder is out on a signature bond, and is due back in court on Jan. 28 for a hearing.
