Masks Not Required For Vaccinated Students: Carroll University
The CDC recommended indoor mask-wearing for people who are vaccinated and in areas at high risk for the coronavirus.
WAUKESHA, WI — Carroll University students who received their COVID-19 vaccinations were no longer required to wear a face covering in any setting on campus, indoors or outdoors, as of June 14.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday recommended that people who are vaccinated and in areas at high risk for the coronavirus wear masks indoors. The CDC announced its new guidance as the delta variant continued to spread across the United States.
The University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee announced on Thursday that it will require all students, employees and visitors to wear masks when gathering indoors, according to a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel report.

UWM is the first college system to change its fall plans regarding masks.
But Carroll University is not changing its fall plans as of now, Kelly Gehringer, the university's senior communications specialist, told Patch on Friday.

All Carroll students must wear masks in the following situations in the fall.
- The university’s health care settings.
- On university-owned or leased transportation.
- At university-sponsored large events.
For the time being, students who are not fully vaccinated were expected to continue wearing face coverings and to maintain physical distancing.
Carroll will require COVID-19 testing for all unvaccinated students living on campus or attending in-person classes. The university will offer free, on-campus testing for students as they enter campus. Fully vaccinated students will not be required to test before entering campus.
The following dates reflect the start of the fall semester for Carroll University.
- Aug. 26-27: First-year student move-in days.
- Aug. 29-Sept. 1: Returning student move-in days.
- Sept. 2: First day of undergraduate classes.
