Ned The HAWS Dog To Get Life-Saving Surgery
A veterinary cardiologist diagnosed Ned with pulmonic stenosis.

WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI—Ned is an 11-week-old pup who came from Mississippi who has captured the hearts of people in Wisconsin. The Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS) in Waukesha recently posted about one of their dogs who needs life-saving heart surgery.
Ned has a serious heart murmur. Even an untrained hand can feel it, just by touch, according to HAWS Facebook post.
A veterinary cardiologist diagnosed Ned with pulmonic stenosis: his pulmonary valve isn’t opening properly, making it hard for his heart to push blood into his lungs. The right side of Ned’s heart is becoming enlarged.

Ned needs Balloon valvuloplasty to save his life.
A catheter will be threaded up his femoral vessel, then expanded to open the valve and breakdown the adhesions. Once that is done, the cardiologist feels there is a good chance the heart enlargement will remodel as he grows…and Ned could return to normal.

Ned will need to travel to Minnesota for his surgery and the cost (not including travel) is approximately $5,200.
Already HAWS has spent over $500 on his preliminary exam and tests, and there are more expenses to come.
At this time, Ned is in foster care with a HAWS’ staff member, awaiting his life-saving procedure.
A fundraising link was posted and thanks to the generous donors, money was raised for Ned to have his surgery.
According to HAWS, Ned is preparing for surgery; living a great puppy life with his foster family.
"There he plays with kids, respects the resident cat, and learns from the family's dog. Thanks to your generosity, he will head to the University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center on March 30th, with his surgery scheduled for the 31st. Until then this darling boy is enjoying life and hoping for Spring, like the rest of us."
