WAUKESHA, WI — Waukesha's 2020 Fourth of July celebration will look a little different this year as organizers say this year's version will be a "reverse parade."

According to city officials, instead of an organized parade passing by spectators, the spectators will pass by parade entries stationed along a predetermined route.

Waukesha's officials said everyone attending the parade will remain in their vehicles and drive the route, and everyone will be encouraged to decorate their vehicles.

"This reverse parade will allow for public participation while maintaining social distancing. More details will be coming," city officials said.

Waukesha officials also said the city will not be holding the annual fireworks display. Various alternatives were explored, however, due to a variety of logistical issues including the need to maintain social distancing and the amount of traffic expected it was determined to not be feasible to hold the fireworks, city officials said.
