WAUKESHA, WI — A Waukesha man is dead after police say he shot at officers from the window of his house and later turned the gun on himself Sunday night.
Waukesha police say they were called to a home in the 2400 block of Pebble Valley just after 8 p.m. Sunday on a report that a 45-year-old white man attempted to strangle a woman inside the house. Police said they approached the house, set up a perimeter and began to try to negotiate with him in order to prevent the situation from escalating.
According to police, the man brandished a handgun and told the woman he was going to shoot family members and police officers during the strangling incident. Police learned the woman was able to get away from the man, along with three young children that were also in the house just before police arrived.
