Person Shot At Waukesha Hotel After Argument, 2 Arrested: Police
Police said a woman from Texas shot another woman in the leg Monday evening at a hotel in Waukesha amid a fight.
WAUKESHA, WI — One person suffered a gunshot wound to the leg Monday evening after a fight at a Waukesha hotel, according to police.
Several people called 911 just before 7:40 p.m. to report hearing a gunshot at the Extended Stay motel at 2520 Plaza Court, according to a news release from the Waukesha Police Department. When police arrived they applied a tourniquet to a woman which stopped the bleeding and afforded time for care from the Waukesha Fire Department, police said.
Nobody else was injured in the incident besides the woman, who is from Mississippi, police said. When officers first arrived at the scene they encountered a large crowd that created confusion, police said. When officers arrived they had received "convoluted inaccurate information from highly emotional and angry people" who turned out to be family and witnesses the news release said.

Eventually, police learned that a man from Texas was working in the area while the woman from Mississippi (who was shot) was staying with him. Another woman from Texas had traveled up to Waukesha with her four teenage and adult children to visit the same man. Police said the situation led to a fight.
Amid the fight, a gun dropped to the ground, police said. Eventually one of the women from Texas shot the woman from Mississippi in the leg, police said.

Police later arrested the suspect who shot the gun and found the handgun in their possession, according to the news release. Police arrested another woman later.
Police said the mother from Texas may face a charge of substantial battery - intentional bodily harm while one of her daughters may face a charge of endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon.
