Plan Aims To Put Waukesha Students In Classrooms 4 Days A Week
While elementary schedules will stay unchanged, secondary students will be in classrooms four days a week starting Oct. 19.
WAUKESHA, WI — Later this month, Waukesha schools will move a step closer to in-person only education for secondary students.
In a news release, the district announced starting Oct. 19, it will move to a new model wherein students will attend classes virtually on Monday, then attend face-to-face classes from Tuesday through Friday.
The Waukesha school calendar has a built-in break for Indigenous Peoples Day from Oct. 28 to Oct. 30, meaning students will only attend 5.5 days of in-person education during the new model's rollout in October.

The district said students will then return for another six days of face-to-face instruction in early November leading up to the Nov. 11 Board of Education Meeting.
In the meeting, the school's board will weigh in on returning to full-time face-to-face education. Their deliberation will center around the ongoing re-entry progress, the release stated.

The school district noted no changes will be made to the elementary school schedule at this time.
The district said it is also planning to host professional development opportunities for its teaching staff so they can become better equipped to handle virtual learning should it be necessary for students who are quarantined, isolated at home or absent for another reason.
