Rochester Deli Drops Popular Sandwich Amid 'Skyrocketing Costs'

WAUKESHA, WI—All good things must come to an end. For Rochester Deli, it is the fan favorite pastrami brisket sandwich, according to a Facebook post.

Rochester Deli cited "skyrocketing costs and disrupted inventory."

Looking on the positive, Rochester Deli said staff is grateful for the 17 years in the community with only minor changes due to the pandemic.

"We're in survivor mode every hour of every day because we want to be here for you," the restaurant said.

Laura Strackbein, business manager/owner, told Patch another popular sandwich is the turkey cheddar panini. While it may not be a brisket type sandwich, it offers a delicious combo of house made cranberry relish, cheddar cheese, mayo and turkey grilled on Vienna bread.

"We know that pastrami will always be a part of our original brand and we'll truly miss serving it up to our amazing guests, but there are far worse things happening all around us in our community and in our world that puts things into perspective quickly," Strackbein said.

The corned beef and Rueben sandwiches are also still available.

"We aren't going anywhere. Let's hope for a miracle of miracles that our economy returns to normal sooner than later," the restaurant said.

Rochester Deli is located at 143 W. Broadway in Waukesha.
