The scam involves a person identifying themselves as the authorities, Waukesha police said.

WAUKESHA, WI—The Waukesha Police Department is cautioning residents of a scam which has resulted in people being swindled out of money, according to a Waukesha Police Department Facebook post.

The scam involves phone calls being made using a spoofed police department phone number and a person identifying themselves as a member of the police department, the post said.

The scammer states there are arrest warrants out for you and then provides instructions on how to handle them, the post said.
