Shoes Needed For Waukesha 9/11 Memorial And Donation

The goal is to collect at least 351 pairs of shoes for the 8 EMTs killed and 343 FDNY firefighters that perished on September 11, 2001.

WAUKESHA, WI—The City of Waukesha Fire Department along with Waukesha Professional Firefighters Local 407 will be collecting new or slightly used shoes that will be donated to veterans, according to the Waukesha Fire Department.

Soles for Souls, was created to honor the 8 EMTs/ Paramedics killed and 343 FDNY
firefighters that perished on September 11, 2001. This year is the 20th anniversary of the attack on the World Trade Center, and the goal is to collect at least 351 pairs of shoes in remembrance of those that lost their lives that day.

Shoes will be collected beginning Monday until August 31st at all fire stations in the City of Waukesha.

On September 11th, representatives from Local 407 will take all shoes to the Wisconsin State Firefighters and EMS Memorial Park in Wisconsin Rapids.

A memorial service will be held at noon.

After the service, the shoes will be taken to Wisconsin Veterans Home at King; many veterans at King have served our country after their military service as firefighters/ EMS.
