Small Plane Crashed At Waukesha County Airport, No Injuries

A Beechcraft Duchess airplane experienced landing gear failure and skidded off the runway on Thursday.

WAUKESHA, WI — A crash was reported at the Waukesha County Airport airfield, 2525 Aviation Road, Thursday afternoon. Kurt Stanich, Waukesha County Airport Manager, said at 2:14 p.m. there was an incident involving a Beechcraft Duchess airplane that is based at Waukesha County Airport.

The right landing gear collapsed when landing on runway 28 and the plane skidded off the north side of the runway.

In addition to the pilot, one passenger was on board.

"We are grateful to report that both occupants are uninjured," Stanich said in a news release.

Runway 10/28 is closed, but the airport is open. The airfield is working in cooperation with local emergency personnel, as well as the FAA and NTSB.

"The NTSB will determine the official cause of the incident at a later date. We ask pilots to check NOTAMs for notification of when runway 10/28 has been reopened. The public can check our social media channels for further updates," the release said.

Earlier a witness posted a picture of a small twin engine aircraft on the field. The witness said it appeared at least two people were in it.
