Spring Election In Waukesha: Where To Vote, Send Absentee Ballots

Voters can return absentee ballots in the mail, to the clerk's office or their local polling station. Drop boxes are no longer allowed.

WAUKESHA, WI — Voters will head to polls across Wisconsin for the April 5 Spring Election, but some Waukesha residents may find absentee ballots in their mailbox if they've asked for one.

Drop boxes won't be available to collect absentee ballots, but residents can send their ballots to their local clerk by mail, drop them off at the clerk's office or deliver them in person to their local polling place, the City of Waukesha announced.

Absentee ballots should be returned as soon as possible, Waukesha County Clerk Meg Wartman said in a statement. Most Wisconsin voters will need a photo ID to vote in person or absentee.

Here's how to return your absentee ballot in Waukesha.

  • Send it to the election clerk's office with the paid postage envelope inside the absentee ballot: 201 Delafield Street, Suite 104. Waukesha, WI 53188
  • Drop it off at the election clerk's office in person. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Turn it in at your local polling place on April 5. Check My Vote WI to find your local poll station. Hours are from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Those voting in person on the day of the Spring Election should check My Vote WI for their local polling place. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., the city said.

City Hall will host in-person absentee voting on weekdays through Friday, April 1, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the city said. April 1 hours will be extended until 5 p.m.

Absentee ballots were mailed three weeks before local spring elections and 47 days before national fall elections, the League of Women Voters said.

Absentee drop boxes are no longer allowed after a Wisconsin Supreme Court ruling.
