Stop Sticks Used On Stolen Car In Waukesha Police Chase Monday: Logs

A police chase that began in Waukesha early Monday morning tracked into the Brookfield and Wauwatosa area, according to police logs.

WAUKESHA, WI — A police chase that began in Waukesha near Main Street and N. East Avenue early Monday morning tracked east at speeds of around 80 mph and ended after stop sticks and a pit maneuver, according to department logs.

An officer began the chase around 1:30 a.m. for speed and running a stop sign, according to police logs. Much of the pursuit took place on Moreland and then Bluemound roads. The chase eventually ended near Rosedale Road off Bluemound with the occupants bailing and hours of a search with drones and dogs, according to police logs.

Logs note that officers deployed stop sticks near Calhoun Road. The suspect vehicle then slowed and lost a tire until an officer used a maneuver. One person was taken into custody as the suspects fled the car on foot, police said.

Police believe the suspects involved — the youngest of which was 13 — stole a car in Milwaukee and then came out to Waukesha, possibly to commit crimes, according to Waukesha Captain of Police Dan Baumann.

Police logs show a search for suspects lasting until around 6:30 a.m. that day.
