2 Injured Including Police Officer After Waukesha Truck Crash

Police found an injured driver had a gun after their pickup truck hit a light pole and rolled onto its roof.

WAUKESHA, WI — Two people, including police officer, were treated for minor injuries after a pickup truck driver rolled over and had to be rescued in Waukesha on Wednesday.

The unnamed driver was taken to a local hospital and remains in stable condition after they rolled their truck on the 1900 block of E. Moreland Boulevard, the Waukesha Police Department said in a statement. A city police officer suffered a minor injury while evaluating the driver.

Police responded to several reports of three cars involved in a crash near Ramona Road and E. Moreland Boulevard around 12:51 p.m., police said.

A pickup truck driver lost control, swerved into oncoming traffic and rolled over before hitting a light pole, police said. The truck came to rest on its roof.

While police and firefighters responded, they noticed the driver had a gun and wasn't answering their questions, police said. First responders said the driver was suffering from a medical event, but it's not clear what kind.

When the crash scene was safe, a crew from the Waukesha Fire Department extricated the driver and provided medical care, police said.
