WAUKESHA, WI — One Village of Waukesha man’s “Trump-Pence 2020” sign looked a little different Wednesday morning when it was found to have been vandalized overnight.

The man, Christopher Peychal, told Patch the sign is not easily visible from his home so he was not aware the sign had been vandalized until he received a call from one of his neighbors.

When he went to investigate, Peychal noticed one side of the sign had been spray painted with the letters “BLM.” The other side reads “[expletive] Trup,” a presumable misspelling of “Trump.”

Peychal told Patch by phone that he contacted the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department and District 97 Assemblyman Scott Allen, alerting them of the vandalism.

In an email, Allen told Patch, “the entering onto property and destroying personal property is not only distasteful, but it is illegal.”

Peychal said the vandalized sign is still standing.

“I think it is an excellent display of why I am voting for Trump in the first place,” he said.

When asked why he thinks his campaign sign was vandalized, Peychal said he is unsure.

“It’s hard today what the motivation of the vandalism is,” he said. “Maybe they were afraid. Maybe this is how they want to try and dominate someone who thinks differently from themselves. Hard to say.”

Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department did not immediately respond to a request for more information.
