'Unauthorized' Brush Fire Extinguished In Waukesha

The Waukesha Fire Department responded to a fire on Wednesday evening.

WAUKESHA, WIβ€”The Waukesha Fire Department were dispatched for an unauthorized brush fire on Wednesday evening in the area of Moreland Avenue and East North Street, according to Joseph Hoffman, assistant fire chief.

Fire officials found a brush fire in a wooded area.

Contact was made with a resident who stated he was unaware of the open burning ordinance in Waukesha, Hoffman said.

"Suppression efforts were difficult due to having to cut some trees down for access to the burning tops. Fires were extinguished and the atter was turned over to law enforcement, he said.

It is not known if the resident was cited or the extent of damage.
