Waukesha County Event To Raise Awareness Of Opioid Crisis

7th Annual Jump for Archie is scheduled for Saturday in Waukesha County.

WAUKESHA, WI—On Saturday members of the public are invited to take action against the opioid crisis and mental health stigma at the 7th Annual Jump for Archie, according to a press release.

On May 15, 2014, 19-year-old Archie Badura died as a result of an opioid overdose in Wisconsin. On the day of his burial, family members jumped into water fully clothed in his memory, letting Archie know his death would not be in vain. His family later started the “Jump for Archie” action and change campaign to highlight opioid dangers and the toll substance use takes on families.

“Now, more than ever, it’s important to bring awareness to mental health and substance use, and to help everyone understand how they can take action to help themselves or loved ones who are impacted,” said Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow. “The Jump for Archie helps provide a positive, visual way to show support while encouraging people to have these conversations without fear of stigma.”
