Waukesha County Names New Public Health Officer
Ben Jones will serve as the public health officer, a role that he has been serving on an interim basis.

CountyΒ Executive Dan Vrakas announced today that Ben Jones has been named the new health officer.Β Jones, who is theΒ Countyβs epidemiologist and currently serves as interim health officer, replaces Peter Schuler, who retired as Director of Health and Human Services in June.Β
Schuler also served as the health officer.

The public health officer is the highest-ranking public health official charged with addressing prevention, protection and control of disease and injury for at-risk populations.Β Jones received a Bachelorβs of Science degrees in biochemistry and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a masterβs of public health from Drexel University, and has served asΒ WaukeshaΒ Countyβs epidemiologist since 2007.Β Prior to his tenure with theΒ County, Jones served as Health Information Specialist for the City of Milwaukee.Β
