Waukesha Hit-And-Run Driver Arrested: Report

Police in Waukesha say a hit-and-run driver fled in his truck with only three tires and was trailing sparks as he fled.

WAUKESHA, WI β€” Police in Waukesha say a man has been arrested for drunken driving after he crashed into a sign, and a donation box before driving off without a tire.

According to Waukesha Police call logs, officers responded to the 1400 block of W. Summit Ave. at just after 1 a.m. on Dec. 3 on a report of a hit-and-run accident.

Waukesha police reported arresting a 29-year-old Waukesha man on suspicion of his second drunken driving offense, failing to keep his vehicle under control, and failing to notify police of an accident.

According to police, an anonymous caller called police, saying that the man was behind the wheel of a red pickup truck in a parking lot when he hit a sign near the 24/7 Petroleum gas station and Advance Auto Parts.

The witness told police the driver struck a variety of things and his truck suffered extensive damage. The witness told police the truck had sparks coming out from under the truck and was driving without a tire as it fled.

Police said they ultimately tracked down the driver after a witness said officers could track his vehicle by following the rim marks that were made on the road as he fled.
