Waukesha Man Drove 130 MPH, Later Jumped Into Fox River: Report
Police in Waukesha say a man admitted to driving 130 miles per hour and crashing his car, before walking downtown and jumping off a bridge.
WAUKESHA, WI — Police in Waukesha say a 23-year-old man was taken into custody for his safety after he drove 130 miles per hour, crashed his car, found his way downtown and jumped into the Fox River.
According to Waukesha police, a 23-year-old Waukesha man was taken into custody for an emergency detention for his safety after he admitted to driving his car 130 miles per hour, and eventually crashing into a snow bank on Madison St. at its intersection with Highway DT.
Police said Waukesha County Sheriff's deputies investigated that crash, but could not locate the driver. According to police, the man eventually found his way downtown and jumped off a bridge behind the Mainstream Bar, and into the Fox River.

Police call logs stated officers were sent to the 400 block of W. Main Street at just after 11 p.m. on Feb. 18 on a report that the man was pulled out of the river by a bystander.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene, and the man was treated for early stages of hypothermia. Police said the man was intoxicated, and later struggled with officers at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, police said.
