Waukesha Man Threatened Woodman's Clerk With Gun: Police

Waukesha police said a man came into the store and tried to buy more ground turkey than allowed by the store.

WAUKESHA, WI — A Waukesha man was cited for disorderly conduct after police say he threatened to pull a gun on a grocery store clerk over wanting to buy more ground turkey than was currently allowed due to coronavirus-related restrictions on select store items.

According to Waukesha police call logs, officers were sent to the Woodmans grocery store at 1600 E. Main Street just before 1 p.m. on April 15 for the report of a disorderly conduct case.

Waukesha police said a man came into the store and tried to buy more ground turkey than allowed by the store. Store management told police he became upset when he could only buy one package of meat instead of the two he was looking to buy, according to police.

According to Waukesha police, the man asked the store clerk, "would you like me to hold a 9 mm [gun] to your face?”

Store management told police that the man was removed from the store, and he left in a blue Ford Escape, police said.

Police said they tracked the man down at his home. When officers investigated the case further, they determined that no gun was ever displayed, and were unable to determine if the man even owns a gun.

Police said the man was cited for disorderly conduct.
