Waukesha Night Out, Dirty Girl Mud Run Set for This Week

Families, if you don’t have plans Wednesday evening, Waukesha Night Out is a free community event in Frame Park that teaches safety tips and builds community policing efforts in Waukesha.
Many local businesses, including Patch, will be at the event handing out free food and running games for the children.

- The Waukesha Public Library is showing a newly released movie about Jackie Robinson’s life on Monday.
- Waukesha South High School’s summer presentation of Tarzan kicks off this week. The musical will be performed at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $5 on opening night and $10 for adults/$8 for students and seniors for all other performances.
- The Retzer Nature Center is going on a bug hunt with children on Tuesday. The program is geared toward children between the ages of 2 and 4.
- The Waukesha Plan Commission will be asked to approve the preliminary plans for the redevelopment of the former Kmart building at Sunset Drive and East Avenue. The building has sat vacant since early 2012 and is the future home of Xperience Fitness. The Plan Commission meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
- The Waukesha School Board meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday where the board will be asked to dissolve the charter school Project Change and explore other service options. Project Change, a charter school for students dealing with addictions, came under the school board’s scrutiny last summer for high costs and decreasing enrollment, despite many people asking for it to remain in the school district.
