Waukesha Police Investigating Car Theft, Burglary Cases

Police in Waukesha say a woman left her car running outside Walgreens. When she came back out, the car was gone.

WAUKESHA, WI — Police in Waukesha are investigating a car theft case that happened at Walgreens and a home burglary case on Sandra Lane after both incidents happened Tuesday night.

According to Waukesha police, a woman walked into the Walgreens at 230 Madison Street at just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to pick up some medicine. Police say she left her car running in the parking lot. As she was in the store another woman got into her car and drove away.

Police say began looking for her car which was described as a gray Toyota Camry. About an hour later, a home owner on the 2900 block of Sandra Lane called to report that a woman was inside her house, taking her belongings.

The caller told police that the person in her house was wearing dark gray and black winter clothes. She then left the house walking east on Northview Road.

When police went out to the house on Sandra Lane, the woman saw the officer, and tried to enter another house, but was arrested before she could go inside.

Police say the woman was taken to Waukesha Memorial Hospital for medical clearance. The stolen Toyota Camry was found just over a mile away where it was recovered by police.

Police in Waukesha say all suspects in this case are believed to be in custody.
