Man with distinct gait followed a woman and then kicked her after the victim said she didn't have money, police said.

WAUKESHA, WI— A man with a distinct gait reportedly followed a woman and kicked her after she couldn't give him money.

Waukesha Police responded to a report of a battery on Tuesday in the 1000 block of White Rock Avenue. The caller reported their friend was beaten up by a man who took off running afterward, according to the police log.

The man was described as white, 6'5, with a distinctive gait, wearing a black hoodie and jeans.

The caller said the man had been following the woman for five minutes then grabbed her by the arm and asked her for money. After the woman said she didn't have any money the man started to kick her, the log said.

Another person called police after seeing a man following people downtown.

Police spoke with a homeless shelter about a man, who fit the description, who had signed out of the shelter. The man was not questioned due to the time between the battery and when he checked out not coinciding, the log said.

Police told Patch the woman refused medical treatment and the case is on going.
