WAUKESHA, WI β€” The School District of Waukesha is considering selling two district buildings to Carroll University to alleviate budget deficits amid enrollment changes, the district said Thursday in a news release.

The possible sale would include the Randall STEM Elementary School at 114 South Charles Street and the Lindholm Administrative Building at 222 Maple Avenue, the district said. An informational meeting for the public to discuss the possible elementary school sale was scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Randall STEM gymnasium.

The district said the possible changes come amid a budget deficit of around $3-4 million per year.

"As we continue to address changes in enrollment and look to maintain our various facilities, we have an obligation to investigate opportunities to optimize the number of facilities within our district portfolio," reads the news release.

If the sale of the Randall Building goes through students and staff can expect to move to the vacant Whittier Building at 1103 South East Avenue for next school year and beyond, the district said.

The staff working at the Lindholm Administrative Building would move to the also vacant Blair Building at 301 Hyde Park, the district said.

"These building sales would further reduce the district building footprint and allow us to utilize all district facilities within our portfolio while we continue to plan for the future," the district news release said.

Carroll University has made an offer to purchase both buildings after recent conversations, the news release said.

The Waukesha Board of Education is set to have a special meeting on Sept. 27 to discuss the sale of the buildings.
