'We Just Bought It,' Was Reckless Driver's Excuse To Police: Cops

Authorities say a reckless driver led police on a chase. When they were caught, here's the excuse they told police:

WAUKESHA, WI — Police in Waukesha say the driver and a passenger of a blue Cadillac told officers they just bought the car and were trying to find their way home after they were reportedly driving recklessly and later led officers on a chase through Waukesha.

According to Waukesha police call logs, an officer on patrol near the intersection of S. East Ave. and W. Newhall Ave. saw a blue Cadillac driving recklessly at just before 7 p.m. on Feb. 3, and tried to pull the driver over.

Police said the driver of the Cadillac was going through stop signs and had no rear plate. Officers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop.

According to police, the vehicle did not stop, and the driver tried to elude police. Police say a pursuit was initiated, which ended in the Aldi’s parking lot on Highway 164 - a total of 2.1 miles.

Police said the driver and two passengers told an officer they had just bought the car and were trying to find their way home.

According to police, a person under 18 years old, and an adult woman were arrested on suspicion of a number of charges, and another passenger was released without incident.
