What's Open, What's Closed In Waukesha Amid COVID-19
There are still some offices that are closed in Waukesha due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Here's your guide as of mid-June.

Closures, Cancellations and Service Modifications:
Public Meetings
- The City is conducting necessary meetings virtually. You can find all the meeting agendas and information on accessing the meetings here.
- There have been numerous security problems in opening up meetings for anyone to βenterβ a virtual meeting. The City has developed a specific process in order to allow the public to provide comments, while also making sure that the meeting is conducted appropriately. City Buildings
- City buildings are open by appointment only starting Monday, May 18.

- Tax payments will NOT be accepted in-person at the Clerkβs Office. Tax payments can be mailed (201 Delafield, Waukesha, WI 53188) or made online: https://tax.waukeshacounty.gov/

Waukesha Parks, Recreation and Forestry
- City Playgrounds and restrooms are open
- Tennis Courts and Pickleball Courts are currently open for singles play.
- The City will hold a reverse 4th of July parade. Parade units will be stationed along a predefined route. Those attending the parade will remain in their vehicles and drive the route. The City will not be holding the annual Fireworks display.
- After careful consideration, the City has made the difficult decision to not open the Horeb Springs Aquatic Center this year. Buchner pool was previously planned to be closed for the year for construction of a new pool.
- Building, Shelter and Special Area Rentals β Reservations on and after May 28 may be held. Capacity levels for each facility have been adjusted to meet social distancing guidelines. Permit holders will be contacted by department staff to provide options for holding or cancelling a reservation. Group size must be 50 or less or meet new capacity limits. Capacity will be re-evaluated as through the summer.
- Baseball / Softball β The City will be providing permitted local organizations with specific permit conditions for the use of fields. Fields will be available for practice beginning on June 1.
- Adult Softball and Kickball Leagues β The City will resume leagues beginning the week of June 8 with additional guidelines in place for the safety of facility users.
- WPRF Youth Baseball, Softball and T-ball will begin practice the week of June 8 with games starting the week of June 22 following safety considerations.
- Recreation Programs β class / group size has been limited to meet social distancing guidelines and safety considerations have been put in place; some programming has been canceled as social distancing guidelines could not be met. WPRF Zoom opportunities and WPRF Virtual Recreation Center will offer additional enrichment opportunities to the community.

Waukesha Public Library

Community Development

Police/Fire
- The Fire Department and Police Department will operate as they always do, but the administrative offices and lobby are closed to the public.
- Residents should call 911 only for life-threatening emergencies. If you need to call 911, tell our emergency dispatchers if you have been diagnosed with or reason to believe you have been exposed to COVID-19.
Public Works
- ALL permitting will be done via email. Please email your permit request to Craig Bayerl at CBayerl@waukesha-wi.gov.
- The Drop-Off Center is open. Please read all the details here.
- Garbage/Recycling: Starting on May 18, Advanced Disposal will resume bulky item pickup
- Household Hazardous waste drop offs are suspended until further notice.

Transit
- Waukesha Metro Transit weekday service returned to its regular schedule starting Tuesday, May 26. Weekend service will continue to operate as scheduled.
- The Transit Center Lobby reopened on May 26, however, weekday hours will be limited to 7 am - 7 pm, Saturday 8:15 am to 7 pm and Sunday 9:15 am to 7 pm.
Water Utility
- The Water Utility is closed to the public
- Payments may be made in the drop box, online or by calling 262‐521‐5272

Prairie Home Cemetery
- The Prairie Home Cemetery offices/chapel are closed to the public.
- For all cemetery payments, please either mail your payment to 605 South Prairie Ave. Waukesha, WI 53186, or drop it in the black lock box located next to the chapel office door.
- Please contact the cemetery office at 262-524-3540 regarding scheduling any chapel services
