WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI β€” A police detective in Menomonee Falls is suing Dunkin' after he claimed a worker spit in his coffee in a 2017 incident.

According to multiple reports, police detective Andrew Martin went to a Menomonee Falls Dunkin in Dec. 2017 to get a coffee. His attorneys say Martin was a regular at the shop, sometimes going there in-uniform and sometimes in street clothes.

In a lawsuit filed on Martin's behalf, they argue that Martin was singled out because he was a law enforcement officer. They claim that once Martin realized there was spit in his coffee, he became worried that he'd contract a disease, and underwent HIV testing as well as testing for other maladies. Now Martin is suing Dunkin' to recover medical expenses as well as punitive damages.
