WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI — Authorities say a woman was driving while high when she caused a car accident that sent a Waukesha County Sheriff's deputy to the hospital.

Jamie Robinson, 32, has been charged with two counts of intoxicated use of a vehicle - causing great bodily harm.

According to the Waukesha County Sheriff's office, at just before 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, a deputy was monitoring traffic inside her squad when she was struck while parked in the median of I-94, west of the Milwaukee County line in City of Brookfield.

The crash caused several lanes to be shut down on I-94 and backups stretched for more than three miles, transportation officials said.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Waukesha County, Robinson was behind the wheel of her vehicle when it slammed into a Toyota Prius, which in turn crashed into the sheriff's squad.

Authorities say the deputy suffered a concussion, damaged vertebrae and a torn calf muscle. The driver of the Prius suffered multiple fractures.

Investigators say Robinson appeared "very hyperactive with very quick movements" when she was questioned following the crash. She was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs after a blood test.

According to the criminal complaint, authorities searched her car, and found a glass pipe, a container for Narcan — a powerful drug reversal agent — an empty bottle that once contained Suboxone — a drug used during the treatment for opioid-based additions — and also a plant material.

When Robinson was transported to the hospital for treatment of her injuries, officers say she was struggling to stay awake. They found she was also carrying Gabapentin pills — an anti-epileptic drug that's also used in treatment for anxiety/depression.

Authorities say the deputy and driver of the striking vehicle were transported to a local hospital for injuries sustained during the crash.

Court records show Robinson pleaded guilty in a 2015 case in which she was charged with manufacturing cocaine with an intent to deliver. Two other drug-related charges were dismissed - but read into the court record.
