Women And Girls Fund Begin Annual Fundraising Campaign

The WGF seeks to aid and enrich the lives of women and girls so they become thriving residents of their communities.

WAUKESHA, WI—The Women and Girls Fund of Waukesha County (WGF) has launched its annual appeal to raise support for programs that provide opportunities for women and girls in Waukesha County, according to a news release.

“We are cognizant of the great needs in our community, especially those amplified by the pandemic,” said Michelle DuBord, executive director of the WGF in a news release. “Our 2020 goal is to continue to provide support to our community partners to help meet those needs. At the same time, we want to provide financial assistance to organizations that help women and girls build the confidence and skills they need to succeed.”

The campaign will end Jan. 31, 2021.

This year, the WGF awarded grants totaling $103,650 to 10 area nonprofit organizations to support programs that promote the health, well-being, education and empowerment of women and girls in Waukesha County, the release said.

Grants recipients were Alverno College, Association for the Rights of Citizens with handicaps, Concordia University, Family Service of Waukesha County, Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital Foundation, La Casa de Esperanza, Lotus Legal Clinic, Parents Place, The Women’s Center and Waukesha County Community Dental Clinic.

In addition, the WGF awarded $25,000 in special grants to Waukesha County non-profits to help meet the emerging needs caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Those agencies were Family Service of Waukesha, La Casa de Esperanza, Lake Area Free Clinic, The Hope Center, The Women’s Center, Waukesha County Community Dental Clinic, and Waukesha Free Clinic (formerly St. Joseph’s Medical Clinic).

With the presentation of its 2020 grants, the WGF has given just over $1.1 million to nearly 60 Waukesha County non-profit organizations since its inception in 2004.

The Women and Girls Fund seeks to aid and enrich the lives of women and girls so they become thriving residents of their communities.

Donations may be made online at http://www.wgfwaukeshacounty.org/make-a-donation/ or mailed to Women and Girls Fund, 2727 N. Grandview Blvd. Suite 301, Waukesha, WI 53188. Donors may also allocate their contribution to the WGF through the United Way, the release said.

The WGF, established in 2004, seeks to aid and enrich the lives of women and girls so they become thriving residents of their communities. The WGF annually awards grants to non-profit organizations that support projects and programs that promote the health, education, well-being and empowerment of women and girls of all ages, the release said.
