WAUWATOSA,WI —Wauwatosa has lost two of its restaurants, owing to the economic effects of the pandemic.

“This was far from an easy decision. The Mayfair Collection has been an incredible partner for us since we opened our spaces there in 2016 with Smoke Shack, AJ Bombers, and Holey Moley Coffee & Doughnuts. We are grateful we were able to serve the Wauwatosa community in addition to downtown Milwaukee,” said Chris Adams, the Vice President of Operations for Hospitality Democracy, which owns the two restaurants.

A Hospitality Democracy spokesperson said they had to make tough, strategic decisions to protect their businesses as best they can during these unprecedented times with COVID-19.

During these changes, the wellbeing of the Mayfair team was a top priority for the company.

The company is overwhelmed with the support they are seeing from patrons for dine-in, patio, and carry out at their downtown restaurants.

The company is offering alternative positions to the Mayfair staff at AJ Bombers and Smoke Shack downtown.

"We are proud of the communities we have built at AJ Bombers and Smoke Shack. We will continue to serve delicious burgers and BBQ in downtown Milwaukee," the spokesperson said.

At this time, there are no have plans to re-locate.

"If the right opportunity for additional locations comes along, we are open to it. Our priority right now is to strengthen our core businesses, provide a valuable experience for guests, and create the safest environments possible until we can operate at full capacity again," the spokesperson said.
