Arrest in Attempted Murder Leads to Armed Robbery Ring

Additional charges filed against shooter, girlfriend and one other in three armed robberies after attempted murder in Wauwatosa.

The arrest of a Wauwatosa teenager for in a dispute over renting a tuxedo for the young man's prom apparently also led to a break in a wide ring of armed robberies in Milwaukee, Wauwatosa and possibly elsewhere.

Charges of three separate counts of armed robbery have been filed against the shooter in the tuxedo incident and against two Milwaukee teenagers after the Wauwatosa youth was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide.

The shooting occurred May 14 at the home of Jazmin Troy Fair, 18, when he chased his stepfather out of the house and shot him in the back with a pistol-grip shotgun, a weapon commonly used in holdups.

Fair was arrested May 16 in that incident after he fled the scene and hid out with his girlfriend, then later turned himself in at his mother's urging. The girlfriend, a 17-year-old from Milwaukee, also was arrested and charged with harboring a felon.

On Sunday, charges of armed robbery with use of force were also filed against Fair, his girlfriend, and another 17-year-old Milwaukee boy in what Wauwatosa police said was a string of armed robberies that have plagued the west side of the metro area.

Patch is not naming the girlfriend or the other boy yet because it is not certain that they will be charged as adults.

"He (Fair) is a suspect in multiple armed robberies in Milwaukee and Wauwatosa," Wauwatosa Police Capt. Jeff Sutter said Friday.

Police say the ongoing and expanding investigation could involve more robberies and more suspects - as many as eight to 10 people altogether and could even involve more jurisdictions, including possibly West Allis.

Criminal complaints against the girl and the Milwaukee boy charged in the robberies were not available Friday.

Patch will update the progress of this investigation as information becomes available.
