Wauwatosa prides itself on the unique, welcoming, and cheerful murals that already exist in the North Ave. Mural Arts District.

“We’ve already been receiving proposals from across the country,” said Beth Gleesing, Wauwatosa Tourism Specialist. “We’re thrilled that Wauwatosa is able to draw interests from muralists from all over to share their talents with us.” Previous murals have been created by artists as local as Wauwatosa itself, from distant states, or as far away as Ireland.

The funding for these murals, which was approved by the Wauwatosa Tourism Commission, does not come from property tax dollars. Public art projects are funded through hotel/motel tax revenue.
