Burglars Take Nothing in Two Weekend Break-ins

Despite clear signs of forced entries, owners of home and business notice no losses.

In two weekend break-ins, burglaries succeeded in forcing their way into a Wauwatosa home and a business, but in the end took nothing.

At 2 a.m. Sunday, a resident of the 7500 block of West Meineke Avenue reported that some time since 5 p.m. Saturday, someone had broken into his home by prying open the front door, but he found nothing missing from the house.

The family had gone out the evening before and returned late to find the door standing open with pry marks around the lock. Even though there were a number of valuable electronic devices in plain view, nothing was disturbed.

The manager told officers the business had been locked when he and other employees left at 11 p.m. Thursday, and that he had found the back door pried open when he arrived at 9 a.m. to open up.

Nothing was found to be missing, either cash or property.

Police found no evidence in either burglary that would lead them to identify any suspects.
