Business Owner Recommended For Vacant Wauwatosa Alderman Position
Robert Gustafson recommended to replace Heather Kuhl who represented District 5. Kuhl resigned in October.

WAUWATOSA, WI—The Aldermanic Selection Committee recommended the appointment of Robert Gustafson to the position of Alderperson for the Fifth District of Wauwatosa on Nov. 19. The Common Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday to decide on the recommendation. Heather Kuhl who represented District 5, resigned on October 14 after submitting a letter to the city.
The city originally had 11 applicants for the open vacancy in the 5th District. Given the number of applicants, the city conducted interviews over two nights. Six candidates were interviewed on Nov. 16. The remaining five candidates were interviewed on Nov. 19. The same evening, the Aldermanic Selection Committee voted who to recommend to the Common Council.
Longtime resident Gustafson said in his application letter he is passionate about Wauwatosa and impressed by the consistent engagement of its residents. He is co-owner of Vennture Brew Co.,
a brewery and coffee roaster located just to the east of Wauwatosa on North Avenue.

"This experience, as the owner of a small business, has shown me the importance of balancing sound fiscal management with sensible development and employee efficiency. These principles are vital for the continued growth and success of Wauwatosa as well," Gustafson said in his application.
Gustafson said as a member of the Uptown Crossing BID, and its current Vice President, he has a vested interest in development of the North Avenue Corridor and blending the business corridor from Wauwatosa through Milwaukee into one thriving commerce center.

"The projects I have championed as part of the BID have focused on benefiting the member businesses for optimal growth and engagement. Continuing this mentality of service and strategic spending and development as alderman could serve the interests of District 5 constituents," his application said.
Gustafson added he brings no political agenda or personal goals to this role, but a desire to serve the needs of my neighbors and ensure that Wauwatosa remains an engaging, desirable place to live, visit and do business.
