Car Slams Into Home In Wauwatosa

A witness snapped a picture of a car on its side and said a person was seen on a stretcher.

WAUWATOSA, WI—A car apparently slammed into a house in the 2400 block of 64th Street Friday.

A witness shared a photo with Patch which shows a car completely on its side inside a house. Firefighters can be seen in the photo. The Wauwatosa Fire Department confirmed the incident.

The witness, who didn't see what led up to the accident, said a person was seen on a stretcher. The witness added the driver was trapped for awhile inside the car before being removed.

The Wauwatosa Fire Department said only one person, the driver, was involved and the person needed to be extricated.

It is not known the extent of injuries and how the car ended up there. All other questions were referred to the Wauwatosa Police Department.

A spokesperson for We Energies said they were dispatched to the location for a suspected gas leak. We Energies is on route as of 12:50 p.m. to turn off the gas and make sure the area is safe. It was reported to We Energies, the car might have hit a gas meter to the home. The spokesperson told Patch, "Our crews were called in turn off natural gas to a property after a vehicle struck a home. Gas was turned off as of 1 p.m."
