Former Mayor Estness Named Interim Director of Tosa Chamber

She has background in professional management and a wealth of connections in the city.

Meg McKenna, departing executive director of the Tosa Chamber of Commerce, announced Tuesday that her replacement on an interim basis would be former Wauwatosa Mayor Terry Estness.

Estness confirmed that she had been asked to serve and had verbally accepted but cautioned that her appointment had not been approved by the chamber board of directors.

Still, she said, "Everyone's pretty excited about the possibilities."

McKenna said that the interim appointment was for three months and could be extended for another three months. The chamber is not hiring a permanent replacement now because its board wants to engage in strategic planning before deciding on the right person to lead, she said.

Estness served two terms as mayor from 2000 to 2008. She has a background in professional association management.

"This right up her alley," McKenna said.

McKenna said the chamber would also be promoting Kari Miller from office manager to assistant director.

McKenna is leaving the chamber post as of Friday to join VISIT Milwaukee, the official metro convention and vistors bureau, as director of development.
