WAUWATOSA, WI — Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity now has the city's permission to build on Mayfair Road, but it hasn't confirmed whether it will or not.

The Wauwatosa Common Council granted Milwaukee Habitat a permit Tuesday evening in a unanimous vote. The permit is to build a new ReStore location at 3201 N. Mayfair Road, where an At Home furniture store currently operates.

But the nonprofit is still looking at other locations, ReStore Director Dominic Jaehnke told Patch.

ReStore would build a 27,000 square-foot addition to the existing property for a new store, according a permit application. The new store would include a donation drive-thru, it added.

New Day Care Moves To 121st Street

The city also gave the Wauwatosa Day Care & Learning Centers an occupancy permit for a location at 346 N. 121st St. The location was home to Just Right Child Care & Learning Center.

Just Right went out of business June 18, Heinowski said.

The new day care center will mostly look after toddlers, owner Colleen Heinowski told Patch. The day care will move into the additional location sometime in September, she added.

When the day care opens, it will operate from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday to Friday, Heinowski said.

The property was leased by the company more than 20 years ago when her mother was the owner, Heinowski said. "We're very excited," she said. "We have a waiting list at our current location, and it's important to help the families of Wauwatosa find quality child care."
