Man Charged After Car Stolen In Wauwatosa With Baby Inside

WAUWATOSA, WI—A 22-year-old man was charged in connection to a stolen car with a baby and another passenger in it.

Edward Jackson of Milwaukee was charged Dec. 15 in Milwaukee County Circuit Court with car theft, robbery, and bail jumping. A cash bond of $15,000 was set for Jackson. His next court date is Jan. 27.

Wauwatosa Police responded to a carjacking in the 8300 block of West Bluemound Road on Dec. 13, according to the criminal complaint.

A couple and their 11-month-baby were inside a 2021 Kia Telluride. The woman parked the car and went inside a store, leaving the car running with. The man and baby were still inside the car, the complaint said.

Another man, later identified as Edwards, got into the driver's seat and drove the Kia away with the passengers still in the car, the complaint said.

Jackson made a U-turn in the parking lot and yelled, "Get out!" "Get Out!", the complaint said.

The man said, "I have a baby in the back, I have my baby in the back!", according to the complaint.

The man told police Jackson said he had a gun and ordered him out, the complaint said.

Police were able to track the Kia through an app to Milwaukee's north side, where the suspect was arrested. The Kia was parked in a parking stall at a grocery store, the complaint said.

"We would like to use this incident to remind the public to remain vigilant in locking motor vehicles and never leave a running vehicle unattended. Although in this case, the vehicle was not left unattended, the running vehicle was an "easy target," a Wauwatosa Police news release said.
